John oversees the Center for NanoTechnology's facilites at the Kegonsa Research Campus. He has worked at CNTech since 1987 and has designed many of its instruments, including several versions of an automated gene synthesizer (AGS), which uses an array of 786,000 adjustable mirrors to direct DNA synthesis on a single DNA chip. He designed the vacuum systems and optical mounts used in the x-ray and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) beamlines. He is now working on an EUV beamline to produce a short straight section undulator. He is also researching EUV photo-resist patterning and outgassing. |
